Puzzles

Oliver just started getting into real puzzles.  We have worked on this one a few times.  He started this on his own this morning, and with the exception of my cheering him along, he put it together all by himself.

Big Boy Bed

After at least a month of racing to Oliver's room in the middle of the night or morning when we hear the announcement over the monitor: "I want to get out of the crib," which is always stated from his position of straddling the crib rail, we have transitioned to a big boy bed.  He never took the leap and fell out of the crib, but he was caught a couple times dangling.  The most dangerous part was that his hands were almost always full with one car each and Myrtle would often be dangling by a flipper from his mouth.  The company we bought our ecofriendly crib from closed last year, and there were no conversion kits left available in the cyber universe (despite hours of searching).  So our little car enthusiast got this new toddler bed (the wheels do not turn, but the headlights do work).  Today was his first day in the bed.  He did not want to get out this morning and this is a picture of him after his nap.  I think he is adjusting just fine.

Oh, my beautiful boy!

The weekend before Oliver’s birthday, we spent a morning with our family photographer.  As usual, I think she did a great job capturing our family and some of Oliver's expressions at the age of two.  The photos are a nice “snapshot” of his personality right now, both his serious contemplative side and his fun giggly side.  I feel so lucky to be able to have such lovely pictures taken each year to help us remember these brief moments in time.  Below are just a few photos from our session.
